Honored to represent HRMFFA today at the United States Senate Committee on the Budget hearing on "Budgeting for the Storm: Climate Change and the Costs to National Security." Our military installations, and the defense communities that host them, need additional infrastructure resources to ensure our bases are resilient to rising seas, storm events, recurrent flooding, and other climate threats. We also need Congress to update U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works authorities to ensure federal installations are included in feasibility studies. Can't afford to have a repeat of the Norfolk CSRM where the world's largest Navy base, Naval Station Norfolk, was left out of the study and the resulting protective measures identified by the Corps. Thanks to Senator Mark Warner and Senator Tim Kaine for attending today and their support for addressing these issues that are critical for Hampton Roads and the Commonwealth of Virginia!

Program Executive Officer Industrial Infrastructure (PEO II) Mr. Mark Edelson, provides a briefing on the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP) at the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance (HRMFFA) Quarterly Board Meeting. HRMFFA’s mission is to coordinate with senior federal government leaders for all area installations, commands, and organizations, local, Commonwealth of Virginia, and Federal elected officials, and industry to ensure support for Federal activities and awareness of anticipated Federal actions with impacts on the Hampton Roads region.
