Morning LinkedIn, I have PTSD, Depression & Anxiety. People around me talk about their #Asthma, #Arthritis, #Cancer, #Diabetes but not their #Anxiety, #Depression, #OCD, #PTSD. Whilst this could be because people view the cause as private, I think it is more a fear of judgement, #stigma and misunderstanding. For as long as I can remember I have struggled with my mental health, and only in my 32nd year have I felt able to speak up and push against social boundaries, challenge the stigma and help those around me. Yet at 7 I wasn’t ashamed I broke a bone, at 12 I had my tonsils out and you get the picture. TriggerHub was introduced to me through Chloe, I am proud to use their service and truly believe that their USP of using lived experience is helping to break stigma and challenging outdated societal values to create a real impact. Lived experience is personal, first hand knowledge and understanding gained through your own life experience. By utilising this people feel like they are not alone and that others have been through exactly what they are suffering with. It reduces embarrassment, shame, stigma and procrastination whilst allowing hope and inspiration. We all have #MentalMealth, just as we all have #PhysicalHealth, but still we don’t talk about it as openly as we do other conditions. Join me as I embark on a personal challenge to break the stigma around mental health, leave no one behind and start on my journey with TriggerHub as a Brand Ambassador, an opportunity I’m very proud to have. Platforms like TriggerHub aren’t a magical cure but a vital part of the ending the stigma and promoting better mental wellbeing across organisations.
