New York becomes the first U.S. state to mandate paid prenatal personal care leave. Starting January 1, 2025, all NY employers must provide 20 hours of paid leave annually for pregnancy-related health services. Additionally, from June 19, 2024, employers must offer paid lactation breaks for nursing employees up to three years postpartum.
